What is the Right Heart Fight?

It all started with Dr. John Kingrey. He came to Oklahoma in 2014 with the goal of establishing a world-class pulmonary hypertension center. Not only would patients receive the best medical care and have access to the latest research and treatments, but he envisioned creating a community. This pulmonary hypertension community would offer support to patients and their families. It would help them connect with each other as well as with their medical team including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and medical assistants, provide education, and help raise funds to find a cure for pulmonary hypertension. This dream was the beginning of the Right Heart Fight.

In 2015 the first Right Heart Fight was held in Oklahoma City. It was a small group, included a 5k race, amateur face painting, and a bounce house. Approximately 50 people attended, and about $8,000 was raised. Every year the event has grown and changed to meet the needs of our community. In 2023 we raised over $50,000 and with your help this year, we hope to raise $100,000.
What is Pulmonary Hypertension?
Simply stated, pulmonary hypertension is high blood pressure in your lungs that weakens your heart. All PH is not the same. There are five main types of PH, each with a different cause, and each requiring a specific treatment plan. While there is currently no cure for pulmonary hypertension, there is treatment.

As a certified National Center of Excellence, the INTEGRIS Health Pulmonary Hypertension Center partners with the Pulmonary Hypertension Association in supporting and administering research trials. Together, we WILL find a cure.
